Talks.
Photography talks at Cathay Camera Club form an integral part of our educational and inspirational offerings, inviting either esteemed club members or notable figures from the broader photography community to share their expertise on specialized topics.
These sessions delve deeply into diverse facets of photography—ranging from technical mastery, innovative techniques, to the subtle art of storytelling through the lens.
Each talk enriches our members’ knowledge, sparking thoughtful discussions and providing fresh perspectives that fuel artistic growth. By bridging practical insights with creative exploration, these engagements embody our commitment to nurturing a sophisticated photographic culture, where learning is both a privilege and a continual journey.
Our very own club member Craig Meakin shares his secrets for achieving stellar street photography. Over the years, Craig has mastered the technique of capturing up-close portraits in Sham Shui Po, his playground for photography.
His method also involves an acute awareness of light and shadow, using natural urban lighting to highlight textures and expressions. Sham Shui Po’s vibrant environment offers a rich tapestry of backgrounds, which Craig leverages to add context and depth to his portraits without distracting from the subject.
Join us for a memorable evening with the Cathay Camera Club as we celebrate our shared passion and bid a heartfelt farewell to Craig, who will soon be relocating to Mainland China. This fantastic night is an opportunity to connect, reflect, and honor Craig's contributions to our community. We look forward to your presence in making this event truly special.
