Club Night: Intentional Camera Movement (ICM)

  • Hong Kong Hong Kong (map)

This month’s challenge is “Intentional Camera Movement (ICM).” Break away from sharpness and convention by embracing motion as a creative tool. ICM encourages photographers to move the camera deliberately during exposure, transforming familiar scenes into expressive, abstract, and painterly images. The focus is not on literal representation, but on rhythm, emotion, and the energy created through movement, light, and colour.

Our guest judge for this challenge is Jayne Russell, a photographer known for her expressive approach and creative exploration of movement and abstraction. Her work demonstrates how intention, experimentation, and confidence behind the camera can turn motion into a powerful visual language. Her perspective will offer valuable insight into how photographers can balance technique with artistic freedom in this unique style.

We look forward to seeing how you interpret this theme, as you let go of precision and allow motion, intuition, and creativity to shape your images into something bold, dynamic, and distinctly personal.
